The beginnings of the Castañer brand date back to 1927 when the first workshop of the brand was founded. During the Spanish Civil War, the company was nationalized and soldiers went to war with espadrilles. But with industrialization, there were not so many peasants to wear. In the sixties, the company turned the business by incorporating color into espadrilles, turning them into fashionable footwear, leaving peasant use. Intellectuals, artists, actors and great personalities exhibit espadrilles all over the world, especially on the Mediterranean coast.
